MISTAKES/GOOFS
- DATE: Xena must have been a truly remarkable person for not only was she present at the Trojan war but, as we shall see in future episodes, she also had the honor of knowing Julius Caesar, Mark Antony and Cleopatra. Considering that the Trojan war is historically placed at about 1194 BC-1184 BC and the aforementioned trio are historical figures from about 100 BC - 30 BC for Xena to have survived over 1000 years is utterly amazing! Talk about your well kept woman!
- CONT: Gabrielle's staff is broken by a Greek soldier when Troy is being attacked. When Gabrielle gets out of the horse to escape from the city, she's got her staff undamaged.
TRIVIA
- The Spartans in this episode have a Southern US accent. While obviously untrue from a historical perspective, portraying Spartans with a Southern accent is a longstanding tradition in American re-enactments of ancient Greek plays.
- The title references the English saying "Beware Greeks bearing gifts". That is based in a sentence from the Eneid, in which Laocoön says "Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes", meaning "I fear Greeks even bearing gifts". In the episode, it's Xena who says the saying.
- The "new" Xena kills less often than then "old" Xena, but still quite often. In this episode she kills one Greek with her sword and one with her chakram during the ambush and a third one in the fight inside the city walls. The "new" Xena's body-count after this episode is 23.
