Summary: The energy recources on Cybertron are drained,so therefore, the Autobots must go to the exploring mission in order to find new sources of energy. The evil Decepticons follow them and infiltrate the Autobot ship. During the battle, the ship loses control and it crashes on Earth. Four million years later, the Transformers are reactivated in the forms of Earth's vehicles and continue their race for energy recources on Earth.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: There are several audio errors in this episode. The three Decepticon jets, seen in the first few minutes are not only colored differently from shot to shot, but we can see Starscream among them, talking in somebody else's voice. Brawn also has a different voice near the end of the episode.
FAKE: The shot of Optimus Prime pointing towards the oncoming attack is shown twice, even though at the second time, Megatron's voice can be heard.
CONT: As Soundwave produces the Energon cubes out of his chest, his head is miscolored.
CONT: The Autobots can all be seen to fly (much like the Decepticons). Later in 'Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2' Galvatron states that Autobots cannot fly. The only exception to this rule is if they turn into aircraft.
CONT: As the camera pans through the battle scene aboard the Ark, we can see two Soundwaves in two different places.

TRIVIA

Even though the Transformer robots turned into alien vehicles on their home planet of Cybertron, they are shown having Earth-vehicle parts on their bodies. They were drawn this way on purpose, so that the kids could recognise the characters right away.
Wheel-Jack is the very first Transformer character to appear and speak in the cartoon series. He remains an important character throughout the first two seasons until his off-screen demise in The Transformers: The Movie (1986).
