Summary: Joel is a former soap star that has moved to the country because, unknown to his son, Marshall, who looks up to his dad as a hero, he was fired from his job because of his age. Marshall is having a tough time adjusting to his new surroundings, but finally finds himself a hobby in acting. One night when he arrives at rehearsal, he catches his dad kissing a drama student, and he refuses to forgive him. But when Marshall gets home later that evening, he finds his mother lying on the floor unconscious from a head injury, and he rushes her to the hospital. Tess, Monica, and Andrew now have their work cut out for them as they try to help the family forgive each other, and for once start acting like a family.
