Episode Quotes

The Mother: It is said that it reflects your own self back at you. What can you see?
Gwen Cooper: Enough guilt to last me a lifetime. But that's okay. I'm a working mother. I don't need The Blessing to tell me that.
The Mother: And you, Jack?
Captain Jack Harkness: I've lived so many lives. And now I can see them all. Hey. Not so bad.
Jilly Kitzinger: I've got nothing. What the hell am I supposed to do? I had to buy my way out of that God-forsaken country. I had to sell my own jewelry! I can't go home. I've got the whole C.I.A. watching for me, the F.B.I. - everyone. What do I do now?
Blue Eyed Man: You start again.
Jilly Kitzinger: With who?
Blue Eyed Man: Us.
Jilly Kitzinger: Why would I do that after everything that you have put me through?
Blue Eyed Man: Because we very nearly succeeded. As trial runs go, it was good.
Jilly Kitzinger: Trial runs for what?
Blue Eyed Man: Plan B. Interested?
Rex Matheson: So, you found The Blessing and worked out this morphic field.
The Cousin: The Blessing exists in a symbiotic relationship with the human race. It transmits the morphic field around the planet, binding us together like magnetism, like sunlight.
Esther Drummond: But binding it wasn't enough. You had to experiment on it.
The Cousin: No, we fed it.
The Mother: We fed it the blood of an immortal. We had one remarkable artifact. We found a second remarkable artifact.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (continuity error): In the last scene just after Rex is shot, and is lying on the floor of the mausoleum, the size, color, and location of the blood stains on his shirt changes.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When explaining the Blessing's effect to Jilly, the Mother states that "in 1998, the average life expectancy from birth on this planet was 66 years, 5 months, and 33 days." No month is 34 days long; this should either be "6 months and 2 days" (assuming a standard month of 31 days) or "6 months and 3 days" (assuming the standard is 30 days).
  • Goof (factual errors): Nobody would be allowed to bring personal cell phones into a secure area at CIA. In general, personal items such as Charlotte's purse would probably be banned as well.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the situation room, the boss says it is 11am in DC and 9pm in Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is UTC -3:00, DC is UTC -5:00 - only 2 hrs time difference not 14.
  • Goof (miscellaneous): The Spanish speaking liaison, Sandra, is introduced as Sandra Lopez but credited as Sandra Morales.
