MISTAKES/GOOFS
- CONT: As Frobisher, Lois and Bridget, seen from behind, start up the stairs together, two other people coming down pass them. In the reverse shot, when they are less than halfway up, the other people have vanished.
- FACT: Colonel Oduya states that the children stopped at "8.40 GMT". From the paper that Ianto picks up the date is given as "Wednesday September 2009". If this is correct, then the UK is still on B(ritish) S(ummer) T(ime), and "8.40 GMT" doesn't fit with the school run.
- FAKE: After Ianto's brother-in-law lobs a brick at the stolen car, in the background we see the brick hit the ground and bounce several times.
- FACT: The Government Information Network page on Torchwood refers to "HRH Queen Victoria". The Queen is referred to as Her Majesty (HM), not Her Royal Highness (HRH).
- CONT: We see Gwen driving onto the Severn Bridge; the POV shot shows her on the bridge, but the side shots show trees and hedges next to the car, showing her not to be on the bridge.
TRIVIA
- Fliming took place on the set of BBC's "Casualty" (1986) in Bristol, which doubled for the fictional St. Helen's Hospital in Cardiff.
- Having been set up to do so by the conclusion of her storyline in "Doctor Who" (2005) {Journey's End (#4.13)}, Freema Agyeman was due to reprise her role as Martha Jones. However she was unable to due to "scheduling issues". Russell T. Davies explained that Agyeman was cast in "Law & Order: UK" (2009) before Children of Earth had been officially commissioned. Because Law & Order offered her 13 episodes a year, she went with that over Torchwood which had been reduced to 5. In response, Davies created the character of Lois Habiba, played by Cush Jumbo, to be a "kind of a Martha figure", one with added innocence who is out of her depth.
- Gwen disparagingly calls Jack and Ianto "the Chuckle brothers". This is a BBC children's slapstick comedy for which writer Russell T. Davies wrote 3 episodes early in his career.
- SPOILER: In spite of the fact that Mark Lynch was killed in Series 1 Episode 11 (Combat) the estate agency in which he was a partner still bears his name - Frost Lynch. This is also a nod to the TV series "Twin Peaks" (1990) whose writers were Mark Frost and David Lynch
