Summary: Mulder is able to enter the train that is carrying the boxcar that he had been looking for. Inside the train, he begins to look for anyone connected with the contents of the car. Meanwhile, Scully confronts Mulder's source. She wants answers and he tells her that the implant that she had taken out of her neck will provide her with more information than he could ever give her.

Scully: Don't you see Mulder, you're doing their work for them. You're chasing aliens that aren't there, helping them to create the story that covers the shameful truth. And what they can't cover they apologize for. Apology has become policy.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: Journals all written in Japanese can be seen a few times during the episode. On two different occasions characters flip through their pages, and we can see that all pages are exact copies of each other.
CREW: Mulder instructs the train conductor to stop the box car in the most remote place possible, but as the train pulls up you can see in the bottom left of the shot a red parasol and some equipment. This is not there when the train pulls away leaving the box car on its own in the middle of nowhere.
CHAR: The technician studying the implant chip that Scully had removed from her neck tells her that his tests on it "...destroyed its silicone matrix." Microchips are made of silicon. Silicone is a silicon-based synthetic rubber.

TRIVIA

"731" refers to Unit 731, a real Japanese chemical and biological army unit that performed horrific experiments on Chinese civilians during World War II, which forms a central aspect of the plot.
