Episode Quotes
 | Season 1 / Episode 23: - Roland
Mulder: They're shutting us down. It's over, Scully. Scully: What are you going to do? Mulder: I'm... not going to give up. I can't give up. Not as long as the truth is out there. |
 | Season 1 / Episode 23: - Roland
Scully: [Scully is refusing to follow a vague lead with Mulder] Who is this Deep Throat character? I mean, we don't know anything about him. What his name is, what he does... Mulder: He's in a delicate position. He has access to information and indiscretion could expose him. Scully: You don't know that this isn't just a game with him. He's toying with you. Rationing out the facts. Mulder: You think he does it because he gets off on it? Scully: No. I think he does it because you do. |

MISTAKES/GOOFS
- GEOG: In the early part of the police chase, we see the suspect's car crossing a railroad track; a CN (Canadian National) logo is clearly visible on the approaching locomotive. The chase supposedly takes place in Maryland and the CN's network, even in its American network, does not go close to Maryland.
- FAKE: The police chase involves a Buick Century as the suspect's car. However, when Mulder asks the alleged owner (Dr. Berube) about his car, they mention that it is a Ciera (Oldsmobile), a different car altogether, though it was built on the same platform. What's more, the Buick that is shown is clearly from the late eighties (1988 at the latest) judging from the headlight style. Scully and Mulder determine that one of the two identical cars belong to a rental agency and it is extremely unlikely that a 6-year old (or more) car would have been kept in a rental agency's fleet.
TRIVIA
- The fact that the lab is in Pandora Street is a clear reference of the myth of Pandora's Box, where all humanity's evils was contained and then unleashed.
- After the agents meet Deep Throat in the empty warehouse, Scully returns to Georgetown University. The establishing shot shows the outside of the building from the Prospect Street Entrance. This near-exact view can be found in Google Streetview, but the entrance sign is now blue and white instead of light brown and black. The street view location is the corner of Prospect St NW and 37th St NW (DC 20057).
- SPOILER: The closing scenes are almost identical to the closing scenes of "The X Files" (1993) {Pilot (#1.0)}. Scully is in bed and sees her digital clock turn from 11:21 to 11:22. Mulder calls and they talk. The scene cuts to The Cigarette Man, who places an object in the vast Pentagon vault. Both episodes end with the door of the vault slamming shut and the camera showing the sign on the door: "In Case Of Fire Or Emergency / Know Your Exits / PENTAGON / Evacuation Procedure."
- The line that appears at the end of the opening sequence reads "The Truth Is Out There" in most episodes. However in a few episodes this line was changed as follows: - Episode #1.23 (The Erlenmeyer Flask): Trust No One - Episode #2.06 (Ascension): Deny Everything - Episode #2.25 (Anasazi): Éí 'Aaníígóó 'Áhoot'é - Episode #3.10 (731): Apology Is Policy - Episode #4.01 (Herrenvolk): Everything Dies - Episode #4.04 (Teliko): Deceive, Inveigle, Obfuscate - Episode #4.10 (Terma): E Pur Si Muove - Episode #4.24 (Gethsemane): Believe The Lie - Episode #5.02 (Redux): All Lies Lead To The Truth - Episode #5.14 (The Red and the Black): Resist Or Serve - Episode #5.20 (The End): The End - Episode #6.03 (Triangle): Die Wahrheit Ist Irgendwo Da Draussen (German, which translates as "The truth is out there somewhere") - Episode #6.19 (The Unnatural): In The Big Inning - Episode #7.02 (Amor Fati): Amor Fati - Episode #7.11 (Closure): Believe to Understand - Episode #9.02 (Nothing Important Happened Today, Part II): Nothing Important Happened Today - Episode #9.04 (4-D): ereht tuo si hturt ehT (The truth is out there in reverse) - Episode #9.06 (Trust No 1): They're Watching
