TRIVIA

The song playing in the bar while McNulty and Freamon talk was originally going to be "One" by U2. But during post-production, it was replaced by "The Green Mountain" by Liz Carroll.
In the series finale, Jeff Wincott, played the undercover cop, Johnny Weaver, who dressed as a bum and surprised McNulty. Wincott starred in the Canadian 80s cop series "Night Heat" (1985)' which also starred The Wire's Clark Johnson (I). Night Heat was a police drama about a Toronto city precinct and a crime beat reporter from a fictional Toronto city paper.
The original title for this episode was "The Life of Kings" referencing the quote by H.L. Mencken.
The song that plays during the final montage is the version of "Way Down In The Hole" that was used in the opening credits of Season One.
SPOILER: The interrogation of the homeless copycat killer was the final scene shot for the series.
