DATE: Count Manzeppi claims that his electrical execution device was inspired by Van Der Graaf's experiments in static electricity. Robert Van Der Graaf was born in 1901 and conducted his experiments with electricity in the 1920s, culminating in the invention of the Van Der Graaf generator. The series takes place during the era of the Grant Administration, decades before Van Der Graaf was even born.
FAKE: Near the end of the episode when West goads Tony into throwing knives at him, slits cut in the door can be seen around West's head and shoulders. This allows trick knives spring loaded and concealed on the backside of the door to be sprung through the slits, hilt first, simulating a real and potentially lethal throw.

Physicist Robert Van Der Graaf (1901-1967), mistakenly cited by Count Manzeppi as the Count's precursor or contemporary, was not alive at the time the series takes place. Van Der Graaf was however alive when this episode aired, dying just a few months later.
