Summary: The White House staff shifts into crisis mode after Bartlet collapses prior to his first State of the Union address. The tension between India and Pakistan heightens when Pakistan gives its commanders control of the nuclear weapons, which leads to the staff once again consulting Lord John Marbury. Meanwhile, Leo publicly discloses his past alcohol abuse and both Sam and C.J. have romantic encounters.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FACT: A map in the Situation Room shows the disputed South Asian region of Kashmir. The map identifies the Pakistani-controlled portion of Kashmir as "Jamu" (sic) and the Indian-controlled portion as "Kashmir". Jammu (the correct spelling has two M's) is a region completely within the southwestern part of the Indian-controlled territory, which is why the official Indian name for the entire state is "Jammu and Kashmir". The Pakistani-controlled regions are known as "Azad Kashmir" and the "Northern Areas". The name "Kashmir" collectively refers to the entire territory, including the Pakistani- and Indian-controlled territory.
FACT: President Bartlett promises the Secretary of Agriculture that next year, during the State of the Union, the Surgeon General will be given the duty of being the one person in the Order of Succession who will not attend. The Surgeon General is not in the order of succession. The only non-Secretary in the Cabinet who is in the order of succession is the Attorney General.
