Episode Quotes

Rick Grimes: [the RV has stopped] We'll be back on the road soon.
Jim: Oh no. Christ. My bones, my bones are like glass: every little bump. God, this ride is killing me. Leave me here: I'm done. Just leave me. I want to be with my family.
Rick Grimes: They're all dead. I don't think you know what you're asking. The fever; you've been delirious more often than not.
Jim: I know, don't you think I know? I'm clear now. In five minutes I may not be. Rick, I know what I'm asking: I want this. Leave me here. Now that's on me. Okay? My decision. Not your failure.
Glenn Rhee: [the three are moving the bodies away from the camp; Daryl and Morales are dragging a body to the pyre to burn] Hey wait, w-what are you guys doing? This is for geeks. Our people go over there.
Daryl Dixon: What's the difference? They're all infected.
Glenn Rhee: Our people go in that row over there. We don't burn them! We bury them. Understand? Our people go in that row over there.
Daryl Dixon: [Daryl and Morales drag the body toward the digging hole] You reap what you sow.
Morales: [crossly] You know what? Shut up, man.
Daryl Dixon: Y'all left my brother for dead! You had this coming!
Dr. Edwin Jenner: [recording his findings drunk] The TS-19 samples are gone. The tragedy of their loss cannot be overstated. They were our freshest samples by far. None of the other samples we gathered even came close. Those are necrotic, useless dead flesh. I don't even know why I'm talking to you. I bet there isn't a single son of a bitch out there still listening, is there? Is there? Fine. Saves me the embarrassment. [stands up] I think tomorrow I'm gonna blow my brains out: I haven't decided. But tonight, I'm getting drunk. [pours a glass] Speaking of which, how far do you think I can chuck this, huh? Pretty far I bet. [throws the bottle] Oh! It is out of the stadium!

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (revealing mistake): When Andrea is sitting by Amy's deceased body before she reanimate you can clearly see Amy breathing.
  • Goof (continuity error): When the group is heading towards the CDC, the Winnebago starts to smoke and they stop. Shane says he will go ahead into the city and try to find a matching hose for the engine, as the one they have is shot. But then they pull Jim out of the vehicle and lean him up against the tree. When they are ready to leave him behind, they climb back into their respective vehicles, and the Winnebago starts without a hitch and they drive away without any more mention of car troubles.
  • Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Andrea is sitting by her sister's body, and Rick goes over to talk to her, she draws a handgun on him. She visibly doesn't cock the gun as she draws it, but the racking of the slide is still heard.

Trivia

  • After it has been discovered that Jim has been bitten, he is placed in Dale's camper with a fever. Behind him while he suffers an American flag hangs upside down as a curtain. A flag flying upside down is a universal signal for distress.
