Episode 06 - The house (exterior) used as the Iranian Embassy is also used in the HBO series "Entourage" (2004) as Vincent Chase's house.
Episode 13 - When Mac hands Bob a cup of coffee, Bob comments that "coffee's for closers," deliberately quoting a famous line from the film/play "Glengarry Glen Ross". David Mamet, creator of "The Unit" and director of this episode, wrote "Glengarry Glen Ross".
Episode 05 - The oceanside railing where Brown talks to the "hippie chick" is at the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center (the Vincent Thomas Bridge and the U.S.S. Lane Victory can be seen in the background).
Episode 05 - Jonas uses the code phrase "Prairie Fire", as the signal to escape and evade. This is an actual code phrase used by US Army Special Forces to signal an emergency egress or extraction. It has been used since Vietnam.
