Summary: In this year's gruesomely ghoulish Halloween gift package, the Simpsons find themselves stuck in a haunted old mansion in the hills, hurtling through the outer reaches of the space-time continuum, and, most frightening of all, in the Springfield Elementary School cafeteria kitchen. In the first segment, Homer is hired by Mr. Burns to be the groundskeeper of his mansion in the mountains. What Mr. Burns neglects to tell Homer and his family is that he has shut off the cable and removed all of the beer from the premises. After several days trapped with no beer and TV, Homer begins to lose his mind and tries to kill his family. Luckily, Bart has been developing his psychic powers and is able to summon Groundskeeper Willie, who plows his way through snowdrifts and ice to save the day. In the second segment, Homer tries to fix the toaster and winds up destroying the entire universe. In the third segment, Bart and Lisa realize that their teachers are putting on weight from eating students.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: In the section where the school staff eats students, when Skinner and Lunch Lady Doris advance on Milhouse, Lisa, and Bart, Skinner's apron is off, then appears, then disappears and he puts it on again.
CHAR: In "The Shinning", Moe says "Now waste your family or I'll give you a beer" when he should say "Now waste your family and I'll give you a beer".

TRIVIA

There is a deleted scene on the DVD that takes place during "The Shinning" in which Bart is riding his skateboard through the halls, turns a corner and sees Sherri and Terri who sing "Your father's gonna kill you!". He runs away and turns another corner and sees Patty and Selma who tells him "It's true, ya know".
The "inside-out gas" that turns the family inside out is a reference to a 1962 radio drama album called "Drop Dead!" by radio performer Arch Obler. In the segment called "The Dark", a man inhales a gas which turns him inside out.
The various alternative houses that Homer creates via his time-travel escapades: Flintstones house, Fast-Food restaurant, Shoe house from Mother Goose, Egyptian Sphinx, and an underwater Simpson's house.
The segment "Time and Punishment" is a spoof of (and/or homage to) Ray Bradbury’s famous short story "A Sound of Thunder".
When Homer is time-traveling, he meets up with Mr. Peabody and Sherman, from the Rocky & Bullwinkle show.
