Character Bio

Waylon J. Smithers, Jr. (better known as "Mr. Smithers" or simply as "Smithers") is Mr. Burns' gay, consummate, and personal assistant, executive, and self-proclaimed best friend.
Mr. Smithers made his first appearance in "Homer's Odyssey."
In many ways, Mr. Smithers represents the stereotype of the closeted gay man, and numerous overt allusions and double entendres to his homosexuality are made, though some of the show's producers instead refer to him as a "Burns-sexual". He is voiced by Harry Shearer.
