Summary: Two men break into Rocky’s house while Rocky’s on vacation. They’re looking for something and they don’t find it. The next day, Jim goes through Rocky’s mail looking for bills to pay and discovers an envelope containing $11,000 in cash! The envelopes keep coming, $11,000 each day without a note or a return address. Angel pinches a little bit of the money – too bad for him, since it’s marked money. Nabbed, he gives up Jim and Joseph right away. Federal agents come after the Rockfords, and so do some people who might be the original source of the money. And Jim can’t reach his father in Hawaii. Jim’s got to figure out what’s going on or Rocky faces fraud, tax evasion and murder charges!

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CHAR: SPOILER: At the end of the episode, when Dennis Becker (Joe Santos) is asked what Electric Larry (Roger E. Mosely) and his cohorts should be charged with, Becker reels off several provisions of the California Penal Code, including "attempted 287." He apparently meant "attempted 187," which would mean "attempted murder," because Electric Larry was about to kill Jim Rockford when Becker and the other police arrested him. Penal Code section 187 is the California statute for murder and several lesser offenses, but there is no section 287, nor was there in 1977 when this episode was made.
GEOG: When Rockford looks up the address for Carson and Carroll, the close-up on the phone book clearly shows the address as 10001 Ave of the Stars. But when he gets there to clean the carpets, the address is stated as 6410 Spencer Street.

TRIVIA

In this episode Rocky reveals he served in the Seabees.
In this episode, Rocky wins a contest and goes on a free trip to Hawaii. In season six, apparently they forgot about this episode. Jim wins a trip for two to Hawaii and takes Rocky, who goes on and on about never having seen Hawaii before.
