Summary: In halting English, Pham Van Mai asks Jim to find her missing brother Vinh. Jim suggests the police, who are better equipped for finding the lost. Offered cash, Jim reluctantly agrees to help. Vinh’s sponsor’s address is a vacant lot, but Jim continues to probe, and gets a reaction: he returns home in time to catch two men fleeing. They hit Rocky and ransacked Jim’s trailer. When Jim asks Mai what she has gotten him into, she only offers more money. The next day the goons return to ask Jim questions. Pressed, Mai says she doesn’t know the men, but she might know their motive: Vinh worked for an Army ranger camp in Vietnam, and when a Viet Cong rocket attack killed many Rangers, the survivors blamed him. But the truth may be more complicated...

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: SPOILER: At the end of the episode, Rockford tackles Lew Hartman just as three police vehicles pull up. In the long shot, Rockford throws Hartman across the hood of the first car, and a plainclothesman begins to handcuff Hartman while Rockford hands the briefcase with the stolen money to Dennis Becker. The camera cuts to a reunion between Mai and her brother Vinh, which goes on for a moment. Then it cuts back to a closer shot of Rockford and the vehicles, and Rockford walks up to Becker and hands him the briefcase again, and a plainclothesman once more begins to handcuff Hartman.

TRIVIA

Mai reveals that Jim has a new yellow pages ad. The old one featured a drawing of Rockford. This ad features a picture! Not real helpful for Jim when he wants to go undercover!
