Summary: The Village superiors are developing an electronic speedlearning process that allows them to place whatever information they wish in the human brain. The unwilling Professor developing the process is working with the mysterious "General," and Number 6 must thwart the scheme before the process is perfected.

The boat the gun runners use is the same one used for SS Polotska scenes in "Checkmate"
The lighthouse and beach are at Beachy Head, which also features in "The Girl who was Death".
The opening sequence does not show Number Two, nor does the voice match that of Number Two. The voice of Number Two is taken from Derren Nesbitt's intro from the episode "It's Your Funeral".
This episode is the second (in standard screening order) of three in which The Prisoner contacts his former employers, and the latter of just two in which his ex-boss is called "The Colonel." In the end titles' cast credits for the first, "The Chimes of Big Ben", but not within the episode itself, the character is identified as "Colonel J," the letter being the initial of "James."
In this episode the location of The Village is given as an island somewhere in the North Atlantic off Africa and Iberia, in contradiction with "The Chimes of Big Ben" in which it is claimed to be on the Baltic coast of Lithuania (although this is shown to just be a ruse), and with "Fall Out" in which it is shown to be within driving distance of London.
