  • Mojo Jojo's "braincap" was designed in tribute to the helmet of the title superhero from the Japanese series "Za kagesutaa" (1976).
  • In the episode "Three Girls and a Monster" of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Three Girls and a Monster/Monkey See, Doggie Two (#3.6)} Blossom orders the commencement of flight plan Alpha-Omega-Atari. When executing this plan, the girls race through the city, at one point forming, with their color trails, the Atari symbol. In addition, the names Alpha and Omega are the names of the first and last gun turrets in Atari's classic arcade game Missile Command (Delta is the one left out).
  • In "Something's a Ms" segment of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Something's a Ms./Slumbering with the Enemy (#2.13)}, Ms. Bellum is kidnapped. The girls are debriefed on this in a scene which mimics similar scenes in The Big Lebowski.
  • The title of the episode which features the "Human Leech" titled "The Headsucker's Moxy", in "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {The Headsuckers Moxie/Equal Fights (#3.10)}. This is a reference to the Coen Brothers' film, The Hudsucker Proxy.

Us" segment of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Hot Air Buffoon/Ploys R' Us (#3.9)}. 4th: In the background in "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Forced Kin (#4.8)}, Dexter can be seen standing on the sidewalk as the alien ship is covering the town.
  • The episode "Meet the Beat-Alls" segment of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Moral Decay/Meet the Beat-Alls (#3.12)} featured a large number of jokes and puns all related to song titles, best known by the Beatles.
  • In "Slumbering With The Enemy" segment of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Something's a Ms./Slumbering with the Enemy (#2.13)} the girls are looking though a teen magazine during a slumber party. Amongst the pictures of guys one sees the creator of the show, Craig McCracken. He's the one with the black "e-bay" shirt on.
  • The location of Townsville is given in the episode in which the girls must solve puzzles given by Him "or else the Professor will pay." The final location in the hunt is given by the Mayor who states that the global coordinates of an intersection is at 32 degrees North and 212 degrees West (or 148 East). This puts Townsville in the Pacific Ocean approximately 400 hundred miles east-by-southeast from Japan's largest island.
  • In "Collect Her" segment of "The Powerpuff Girls" (1998) {Collect Her/Supper Villain (#2.2)} while the mayor is performing a Role Call of the population of Townsville to discover the identity of the kidnapper of the Powerpuff Girls, he calls out "Genndy McCracken", an amalgamation of producer Genndy Tartakovsky and Powerpuff Girls' creator Craig McCracken.
  • Originally entitled "Whoopass Stew", with the girls called the Whoopass Girls, but was changed when adult test audiences disapproved children hearing profanity to youngster generations, especially kindergarten, first grade & pre-school.

The rest of Townsville try this, going from on person to another. One of these people is Gene Simmons, the bassist/vocalist from the band KISS.
  • After The Powerpuff Girls (2002) the show underwent a series of changes: The production switched from traditional inked and painted cels to digital post production, the design for Mojo Jojo was changed to the more sinister-looking one used in the movie, and the end graphic - with the concentric hearts and the girls appearing in an explosion of stars - switched to the slightly more elaborate version used at the end of the movie.
