This is Donald Sutherland's second appearance in a Ken Follett adaptation. He previously appeared in Eye of the Needle.
Donald Sutherland and Rufus Sewell have both played Norse king Fortinbras, in Hamlet at Elsinore (1964) (TV) and Hamlet, respectively.
CAMEO(Ken Follett): The merchant who tells Jack about his father.
During Jack Jackson's visit to his relatives' home in France, he meets a friend of his father Jack Cherbourg. The gray haired friend is Ken Follett, author of the novel Pillars of the Earth.
