Jerry Nelson (I) is not credited for his appearance as Floyd in this episode. This omission is due to the fact that he was not on set for the filming of the first three episodes. His performance in "Ain't Misbehavin'" was filmed later in the season and then inserted into the episode.
This episode was the debut of the Swedish Chef, who makes bouncing meatballs and the Muppet News Man. The News flash was filmed later in the season as he is wearing glasses and has his later voice. Wayne and Wanda are also introduced in this episode, however they won't sing until the next episode.
This is only one of two first season At the Dance segments in which neither George nor Mildred dance together; instead, Mildred dances with Dr. Teeth while George dances with Zelda Rose in the background.
This is one of two pilot episodes produced months prior to the rest of the first season. They served as pilots used to sell the show to local TV stations. The other pilot was #1.01 "Juliet Prowse".
"Lydia, The Tattooed Lady" was one of Jim Henson's favorite songs. It was even performed at his memorial service in 1990 by 'Kevin Clash (I)' in the voice of Elmo. The tattoos drawn on Lydia were drawn on by Henson himself. Unlike other Muppet pigs, Lydia has hooves instead of hands. The punch at the end of the number was the first time Miss Piggy hit Kermit. This punch would later evolve into a karate chop.
