"Mentalist" is a show who's time has come. With all the hype and shows boasting "supernatural" powers to communicate with everyone, living or dead, it is refreshing to have a show that basically debunks it all. A mentalist is a magician who's job is to "trick" you, to deceive you." There are two kinds of these: 1) the entertaining kind (ala Kreskin) and the deceiving kind (those pretending it's real). Siimon's character is a reformed later. Using real "mentalist gimmicks" most of the time along with an innate ability to "read" people, the show is fresh and it is entertaining. The lead's ability to hold one by the wrist and be led is called Hellstronism (after Alex Helstrom) and is used by only the very best of the magician mentalist. This adherence to accuracy makes "The Mentalist" all the more intriguing. Of course, it helps that he always gets "his man" or woman! |

Patrick Jane is observant, smart, and cocky. Bruno Heller plots each episode and weaver a consistent subplot through the entire series. Brilliant. |

Simon Baker is too good looking to be a man. Love the plots. Don't like his boss. She's not that good looking. Kang is a great straight actor. I record every epitosode so I won't miss one. |

This is an enjoyable show but the writers have turned Rigsby into a buffoon,Cho & van Pelt retain some respectability but Lisbon is redundant in this series,she tells Jane not to break or bend rules,but he goes ahead and does it anyway. I hope the writers don't copy Sherlock Holmes & Monk & turn the police into fools & the consultant into an arrogant person who is never wrong |

A mentalist turned private investigator uses his skills to help the police. more od a adult version of Psych. I enjoyed the frist show and cant wait till the next. Not out till Sept 08 |
