Summary: The children need a new mascot for their soccer team and they decide to permit each of the students to suggest a name. However, when Phoebe suggests that the class uses a butterfly, the children all laugh at her idea and they’re more interested in Janet’s suggestion: the bog beast. Ms. Frizzle decides to take the children on a fieldtrip to a nearby swamp in order to show them just what exactly butterflies are capable of, though she also hopes to reveal to them what the bog beast actually is.
