MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FACT: In this episode, government terrorists attempt to remotely fly a Boeing 727 into the World Trade Center. The context in which this is displayed would not have been possible, as most 727s were built before the advent of digital Avionics systems. The analog computers inherent in most 727s would not have been able to be used to remotely control the aircraft.
- FACT: When the Lone Gunmen and Timmy are hacking into the Department of Defense's mainframe, their intrusion is detected, but Byers tells Timmy to "keep downloading". They're downloading a text document (.txt), which would download instantaneously on any contemporary internet connection (which we assume they have, since they're hackers).
TRIVIA
- The pilot program, which first aired on March 4, 2001, concerned a government plot to crash an airplane into the World Trade Center and make it appear as a terrorist plot in order to justify more defense spending.
- The pilot episode features a corporation called "EComCon". EComCon (a compression of "Emergency Communications and Control") is a codename for a secret base used by a rogue Air Force general to overthrow the U.S. Government in the film Seven Days in May (1964).
