The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries
- The character of George Fayne undergoes major alterations with this episode. Although still played by the same actress, the character is portrayed as more confident, less nerdy, and more attractive than the dowdy characterization featured in earlier episodes. This renovation carries on into the next Nancy Drew installment.
- The footage of the actual football game is likely taken from the classic 1971 Oklahoma-Nebraska game which was played at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Nov 25. In the footage, Oklahoma's quarterback and running back wore No. 11 and 30, which would match what Jack Mildren and Greg Pruitt wore.
- The first song performed by Paul Williams in this episode, "The Hell of It", is also performed by him in 'Phantom of the Paradise (1974)'. At the end of the song, Williams dons a set of fake teeth that makes him look like the Phantom of the Opera, the character parodied by him in the movie.
- Joe Hardy says as he and Frank are walking toward the haunted house, "Wonder if Hitchcock's seen this place?". This refers to the fact that the house is the same one used in Alfred Hitchcock's film Psycho.
- While speaking to Abrams, Joe mentions that a former spy and friend, Alexander Cartel, had tried to kill his father, Fenton Hardy, this happened in the episode, "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" (1977) {Acapulco Spies (#2.9)}
- The fake newscast mentions the fall of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin. Amin did fall from power in 1979, though a few months later than "predicted".
- The Inspector mentions how Frank and Joe saved Nancy Drew when she was kidnapped by Rathbone, this happened in "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" (1977) {Arson and Old Lace (#2.21)}
- Last show of the series.
