[show]As an ABC Hollywood (Prospect & Talmadge studio lot facility) scenic designer and Art Director, George Smith designed "The Dating Game" funky twin turntable set with the 60's daisy decoration on the turntable's background walls. This was the first color season for ABC Hollywood, with the network insisting on "bright vivid 'Technicolor' schemes" to be incorporated in all scenery. After the pilot became a network's program broadcast weekly staple, George Smith continued as the show's art director. George Smith also designed the network's daily "Divorce Court". George Smith, as a staff designer, was assigned to art direct another new pilot, "The Dating Game". Network Production Services, under manager Lou Sandman, replaced "The Dating Game" art director position with Michael Baugh, and later, Bill Morris (who was also working out of the Production Services division's art department).
[hide] - Early in his career, Burt Reynolds appeared on the show as a contestant.
