Summary: When two of the most popular girls in school come over to Vanessa's house and find out that she has an $11,000.00 painting hanging over her fireplace, they spread rumors around the school that she is a stuck-up rich girl, and Vanessa decides it would be better if they were poor. Meanwhile, Clair is afraid that Cliff will buy too many things when he goes to the hardware store to buy a new TV remote. So she decides to call the owner, one of her old friends, and ask him to refuse to sell anything to Cliff except for the remote. Also, when Theo teaches Rudy how to play checkers, and she beats him very quickly, he decides to play a trick on Cliff.
