The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to the HBO televison series Sex and the City and based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell. The show focuses on Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school during the early 1980s and part of her life in New York working as a writer.

The CW has today renewed "The Carrie Diaries" for a second season. "Carrie Diaries" creator Candace Bushnell recently hit back at Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker's comments that the prequel is "odd" and "one of those tests of your generosity".
