At the time, no shows were produced with a psychiatrist as the subject matter. With this foundation, the shows were a riot. One of the funnest episodes had Newhart simply listening and agreeing with the patient. When asked a question, Newhart would reply, "What do you think?" At the end the patient was overwhelmed with the help she had been given. With a deadpan, Newhart assessed her cost for that hour of help. Funny stuff indeed. |
