In 1870s San Joaquin Valley the show follows the rich Barkley family in Stockton. Victoria Barkley recently widowed leads the family as they run their ranch, groves, and logging businesses. Heath manages family possessions; Audra is a talented horseback rider; Nick runs the family's holdings and minds the ranch; Jarrod is a lawyer who often helps the family sort out their legal troubles.
