Mistakes/Goofs
- Goof (continuity error): The outside of the arctic shelter shows squared up, vertical walls while the inside view is of a WWII half-dome Quonset hut.
- Goof (factual errors): When Sheldon, Leonard, Howard and Raj are in the walk-in freezer at the Cheesecake Factory, Sheldon gives the task of painting the Van Dyke facial hair onto Legolas the Elf. He states that the Van Dyke is a Goatee without a mustache. This is not true as the Van Dyke is a Goatee and mustache, which encircles the entire mouth, whereas what Sheldon is referring to is the Goatee, which is hair on the chin without a mustache.
- Goof (factual errors): At one point Sheldon tells Penny that they are going to be visit the Magnetic North Pole. This Magnetic North Pole is not located at the geographic North Pole hence when Leonard says "They are at the top of the world", they actually aren't. They are actually somewhere in Canada in 2008 as the Magnetic North Pole changes its location.
Trivia
- Marks the first time Sheldon says "bazinga."
- The title refers to their scientific trip to the far north to find monopoles and prove the validity of string theory.
- Penny admits to herself that she doesn't want Leonard leaving for three months though she can't admit it to Leonard.
