The character of Scarface was originally based on Al Capone, who was given the nickname "Scarface". This was also the inspiration for the 1932 and 1983 movies of the same name. While the version of Scarface in "Batman: The Animated Series" copied the 1920s pinstripe suit, cigar, and Tommy gun look of Al Capone, the Scarface of "The Batman" wears clothing that pays tribute to Al Pacino's look in Scarface (1983). His line "Say hello to my little friend" is also a reference to this.
