Throughout the episode, Murdock is obsessed with turning himself invisible. He claims that all he needs to do to turn invisible is think about "white paper." This is a reference to an earlier Stephen J. Cannell series, "The Greatest American Hero".
Stephen J. Cannell asked Dwight Schultz to impersonate Burt Reynolds (I) when posing as "Father Harry Dean Hanover".
