Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 01x01 Things Change

Summary: Whilst training in the lair, the TMNT are ambushed by a horde of mousers, the resulting conflict destroys the lair, and the Turtles are separated from their mentor, Splinter. As they journey through the sewer network in an effort to reach the surface and locate Splinter, the Turtles do battle with not only further Mouser forces, but also an elite group of ninjas known as the Purple Dragon Gang.

In this series, Splinter refers his turtles as his sons, and the Turtles refer to Splinter as their father sometimes. In the old 1980s animated TV series, Splinter-Turtles relationship is more sensei and student.
The two police officers sitting in their car in this episode are cartoon-versions of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the co-creators of TMNT.
