Sydney has been making her living as a P.I. in New York but decides to return home to Los Angeles. At home, she has to deal with her smart family (a tough ex-cop dad, a worried mom, and a goofy brother). She also has to juggle a strange boss, an upper class friend and an array of clients for the cases she takes. Not to mention, she's single and worried about dating.
