Summary: The brothers head to Hollywood to investigate the mysterious death of an actor. The man was killed on the set of a horror film and rumors begin to fly that he was killed by a ghost. Sam and Dean soon find that the death was a publicity stunt, but when a studio executive and the film's executive producer are found dead, Sam and Dean realize that the rumors about a haunted set may prove to be true.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: When Dean is shown with a headset for the first time (18:10), the other end of the headset wire isn't attached to anything.
PLOT: SPOILER: In the 'trailer' for Hell Hazers II, they show a shot of the girl using her cell phone camera to find the ghosts, yet they don't come up with this idea until later after Sam and Dean use this method.

TRIVIA

When a take is stopped because of the argument of salt against ghosts, a shotgun is suggested and then rejected as making less sense than salt. The main character, Ash, of The Evil Dead (1981) fights against the dead-come-back-from-hell with a shotgun and a chainsaw.
Hellhazers II: The Reckoning seems to be a take on Sam Raimi's cult film The Evil Dead (1981), where a group of friends are stuck in a cabin in the woods after playing a recording of a chant to supposedly bring the dead back from hell. One of the characters from Hellhazers is named Ashley, the same as Bruce Campbell (I)'s main character from Evil Dead.
In the beginning of "Hollywood Babylon," the Winchesters are on a tour of Hollywood. The tour guide says that they are passing the place where "Gilmore Girls" (2000) is filmed, and if they're lucky they might get to see one of the stars. Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, had a recurring role on Gilmore Girls. At this point, Sam Winchester looks uncomfortable and quickly leaves the tour bus.
Realizing that the summoning ritual being used on set is real, Sam and Dean go visit Martin in his office. On the back wall there are posters for several movies two of which are from previous Supernatural episodes: 'Monster Truck' (29:59) is from "Route 666" and 'Carnivore Carnival' (30:10) is from "Everybody Loves a Clown".
When Dean tells Tara she was great in 'Boogeyman'. She says it was a horrible script. The Script to Boogeyman (2005) was written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.
