Summary: The Studio 60 cast and crew continue to deal with the fallout of Wes' on-air breakdown, as well as adjusting to Matt and Danny's management. Harriet finds out that Matt is sleeping with Jeannie, a cast member and writer. Meanwhile, Jeannie stresses when a sketch she pitched doesn't go over as well as she hoped; and the team scrambles to find a musical guest when the lead singer for The White Stripes catches tonsillitis.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: At the end of the episode, we get a great countdown to the start of the show-within-the-show, including the "countdown clock" dropping from :06 to :05. The show runs through the "Modern Major-General" parody, finally cutting back to Matt as he turns to see the countdown clock drop from 6:23:57:54 to :53, a total of 2:12 from the previous shot. However, a real-time clock (such as the video clip timer on NBC's web site as it runs the episode) ticks off 2:27 for this interval, a 15-second discrepancy.

TRIVIA

The song "Model of a Modern Network TV Show" is a parody of 'Gilbert & Sullivan''s song "I am the very model of a modern major general" from ‘The Pirates of Penzance'. Later in Matt's office there is a poster of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’.
The Guest Host, not appearing on screen, was Mark Wahlberg (I). The Guest Musical Acts, appearing on screen, were the West Coast Philarmonic Orchestra with the Los Angeles Light Opera Chorus.
Harriet (Sarah Paulson) accuses Matt (Matthew Perry (I)) of making her life miserable for having to live through ridiculous rumors of him hooking up with numerous famous women. Among these women mentioned, is Marlo Thomas. Thomas guest starred in numerous episodes of "Friends" (1994) as Rachel's mother, which of course, was the show that made Matthew Perry famous.
Jack's line, "I hate spunk", is a tribute to the TV show "Mary Tyler Moore" (1970) where, in the premier episode, Lou Grant delivers the same line to Mary, under comparable circumstances. The earlier show is generally credited with breaking a lot of social ground for women in the workplace.
