MISTAKES/GOOFS
- CONT: Danny remarks that his cocaine relapse occurred over a long weekend and that he now has only 8 days of sobriety under his belt. However, as the Pilot takes place on a Friday that would put the 3rd day of his long weekend at Thursday of the proceeding week.
- SYNC: When Matt and Danny take the stage at the end of the episode we hear applause and cheers, but the waiting crowd isn't clapping.
TRIVIA
- Jordan McDeere was originally called Jamie and Danny Tripp was initially written as Danny Moore.
- On the DVD commentary, it is revealed that the first scenes Matthew Perry (I) shot as "Matt Albie" were those at the awards dinner.
- In the commentary track included on the DVD, Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme (I) reveal that Bradley Whitford's scenes in the pilot were shot while he was still finishing up work on the final season of "The West Wing" (1999) (hence his absence in two of the final three episodes of "The West Wing"). Schlamme also says that he, Whitford and other casting staff made conscious, deliberate effort to help Whitford create an entirely new character and 'check' himself from employing as few of the mannerisms as possible on which he relied in the portrayal of his longtime "The West Wing" character Josh Lyman.
- Amanda Peet (I) was still performing in the play "Barefoot in the Park" when the episode was filmed and would not abandon it. Her hair was still in a 1960s style, necessitating having it pulled back for the episode.
- The Guest Host, appearing on screen, in the Pilot was Felicity Huffman. The Guest Musical Act, not appearing, were Foo Fighters.
