MISTAKES/GOOFS
- PLOT: When Apophis, Teal'c and various other Jaffa travel through the gate to earth, the wormhole closes, but when they leave with the female USAF officer the gate is open even though they didn't enter the control room and wouldn't be able to use earths system anyway because of the difference between earths computers and DHDs.
- FAKE: The scenes looking down at the descending lift are actually shots looking up at an ascending lift. There is a looping cable visibly defying gravity 'above' the lift
- CONT: In the pilot episodes #1.1 & 1.2, "Children of the Gods" Teal'c's supposedly permanent gold serpent marking is upside-down in a scene where he is talking with Jack. There are also some episodes where it is slightly crooked.
- FACT: In both parts of this episode, Kawalsky is referred to as Major, but he is wearing the rank insignia of an Air Force Captain.
- CONT: In the movie Stargate, Daniel's wife's name is spelled "Sha'uri," but in the credits for this episode (and every other episode she's in) her name is spelled "Sha're."
TRIVIA
- In 2009 this episode was edited to create Stargate SG-1 Children of the Gods Final Cut, in memory of 'Don S. Davis'. Some scenes were deleted or added, dialogue changed (Carter saying "MacGyver'd" is changed to "jerry rigged"), and any frontal nudity (Sha're) removed.
- Amanda Tapping ('Samatha Carter') says, "This is how they controlled it. It took us 15 years and three supercomputers to MacGyver a system for the gate on Earth." Richard Dean Anderson played the eponymous lead in "MacGyver" (1985). According to one account, Tapping ad-libbed the MacGyver reference while reading for the part of Carter, and that was what clinched the role for her.
