Mr Woolsey comments that the coalition would be like the Federation, a reference to Star Trek (Robert Picardo (Woolsey) starred in "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995)). At the end of the episode Woolsey and Sheppard are smoking cigars and drinking scotch on the balcony, a classic scene from "Boston Legal" (2004) where, at the end of each episode, Denny Crane and Alan Shaw are smoking cigars and drinking scotch.
