Summary: Kes begins to go through a transformation to a higher plane of existence. However, this transformation puts Voyager in danger. Kes decides she must leave in order to preserve the crew. But, once transformed, Kes imparts a major gift on Voyager and its crew.Meanwhile, Seven of Nine fights Janeway’s attempt to adjust her back into humanity.

The Doctor extracts 82% of Seven's Borg hardware. He also simulates Seven's hair follicles to promote hair growth.
This episode is the last episode that Kes is seen in as a regular character. The staff at Star Trek felt that Kes' character arc had been taken as far as it would go, so actress Jennifer Lien was released from her contract and asked to leave the show. However, Kes makes a guest appearance in the season six episode "Fury".
In this episode we learn that Lt. Ayala has been demoted to ensign. The reason for this is unknown.
Annika Hansen, a.k.a. Seven Of Nine, was born on Stardate 25479 at the Tendara Colony.
Ethan Phillips (I) (Neelix) once stated in an interview that a farewell scene between Neelix and Kes was taped, but it never made it into the final episode.
