Summary: Stardate: 47615.2 A simple scan of a comet leads to the appearance of strange objects aboard Enterprise. Data is also invaded by a strange entity. Now, the crew must solve these onboard transfigurations, and the mystery of the comet, before they are unable to save the ship and themselves.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: When the enterprise returns to normal, Data doesn't have his mask on (or with him). But in the epilogue it is explained and shown that his mask did not disappear (and should have been there).
FAKE: Obvious matte work when Masaka's temple appears and disappears.
BOOM: In the briefing that takes place in the Observation Lounge the mike can be seen above Troi's head a little to the right
FAKE: When Picard holds up Data's "clay" mask in the final scene, its left side is visibly vibrating, which suggests that it is actually made of a very thin and light material, like paper or cardboard.
CONT: While the comet is being described as a "rogue comet" (which means not bound to any one star system) the on-screen graphic shows it being in an elliptical orbit.

TRIVIA

As the ship reverts to a primitive state, so too would the crew revert to prehistoric beings two episodes later.
Data mentions his dream program again at the end.
Director Robert Wiemer (I) is also not fond of this episode. He said: "I always look to find a meaningful subtext of some kind in all the shows I do. More often than not they're little morality plays. I didn't find that here. It ended up an exotic adventure story but it didn't have any heart."
'Rickey DShon Collins reprises his role of Eric from episode #7.2.
The idea of someone going through the equivalent of multiple personality disorder would crop up again in VGR when Seven of Nine was embodied by the personas of several people assimilated by the Borg in episode #5.7.
