MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FAKE: SPOILER: During the scene where Geordi is strapped down to the lab table and Data is imitating Picard's voice, watch Geordi's left hand closely. Although he is supposed to be tightly restrained by a seat-belt type strap running across his arms and chest, he briefly slips his left hand easily out from under the restraint when struggling, although actor 'Levar Burton' quickly realizes the mistake and slips his hand back underneath the belt.
- PLOT: SPOILER: Immediately after Picard, Geordi, and Troi are captured, Data is seen removing their Starfleet Com Badges, presumingly to prevent them from being located and contacted by other crew members (it has long been established that the badges can serve as a tracking device). However, Data does not remove his own Starfleet badge; isn't he running the risk of being tracked & located by the search teams by not doing this?
- CHAR: Data uses a contraction ("I'll"). Something he's incapable of doing.
- CONT: SPOILER: In "Brothers", Data's emotion chip was seen as a small round sphere; at the end of this show, however, it is now shown as a round flat disc with a triangular section missing from it (and still later, in the movie "Generations", it is seen as being much larger and an entirely different shape yet again).
TRIVIA
- In an early draft, Barclay took the place of Ensign Taitt. The change was made due to availability and cost issues.
- The compound interiors were a narrow three-wall set multiplied optically, along with the Borg extras. They were left standing in the hiatus between seasons, but the caverns were built for Pt 2.
- 'James Horan' (vq) played an alien scientist last season trying to disprove the metaphasic shield used by the Enterprise to escape from the Borg here. Its ironic that he plays a Starfleet officer willing to use it, and that's he's taking orders from Beverly, who had to kill him in that episode.
- Data would later implant the emotion chip in Star Trek: Generations (1994). He could later deactivate it at will, and remove it completely if necessary.
- The first draft of the script had Data kill Lore in self-defense with a phaser, but the producers insisted on a less overt method.
