MISTAKES/GOOFS

CHAR: The actor playing Reittan Grax makes a variety of pronunciation errors in the very beginning of the episode when speaking with Picard and Data in Ten Forward; notably, he refers to his race as "we Betazeds" - the planet name is Betazed, but people FROM the planet are called Betazoids. He also pronounces Deanna Troi (pronounced like "Banana") incorrectly (pronounced like "sauna").

TRIVIA

First Star Trek appearance of Ethan Phillips (I) who played the Ferengi Dr. Farek in this episode. Phillips would, of course, go on to play the Talaxian morale officer Neelix on "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995). Interesting enough, Phillips would don the Ferengi makeup two more times in a Star Trek series--first in the episode "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) {False Profits (#3.5)}, as Neelix surgically altered to appear as the Grand Proxy to the Nagus, and again in "Enterprise" (2001) {Acquisition (#1.19)} where he plays the Ferengi Ulis.
The title is from the expression Ménage à trois where there is a relationship or domestic arrangement in which three people share a sexual relationship.
