Summary: Stardate: 42923.4 Enterprise participates in a battle simulation between Enterprise and an 80 year old starship, to be capt.’d by Riker. A Zakdornian is assigned to oversee the mismatched simulation. The Zakdor is also a master of the game Strategema. Learning this, Dr. Pulaski pushes Data to challenge the Master to a game. Data relents and plays the game and loses. Stunned, Data removes himself from duty, feeling he must be malfunctioning.The battle simulation then takes place, but it is interrupted by a Ferengi attack on the Enterprise, as they think there must be some profit Enterprise is seeking from the weaker Starfleet vessel. The question is can Riker, in the weaker vessel, save Enterprise from the Ferengi attack.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CHAR: Capt. Picard addresses Ensign Burke as "Lieutenant Burke" at one point.
PLOT: Worf can make false images on Enterprise's sensors and viewscreens because as a security chief he has the access codes. But somehow he is able to do so to the Ferengi ship, without knowing their codes.
FAKE: When Wesley pulls his experiment out of the storage bin he is extremely careful due to its volatility, but when he beams it over to the Hathaway it materializes on a table and rolls around without exploding.
FAKE: Riker's boarding team are carrying First Alert flashlights.
FACT: According to The Next Generation Technical Manual, it says that antimatter cannot be beamed through a transporter without making extensive modifications to the circuitry. Yet Wesley took no such precautions, and was still able to beam it safely.
