MISTAKES/GOOFS
- FACT: At the beginning, as the shuttle prepares to leave Enterprise, Wesley tells the bridge, "Shuttle Craft 2 is ready for departure." Yet all of the markings on the shuttle say "01", clearly indicating that Picard and Wesley are in Shuttle One.
- FAKE: At one point, when Riker is yelling at the Pakleds, a shot shows the dome above Riker's head on the bridge. The view is dense with stars. Yet the shot just previous to this one shows Enterprise and the Pakled ship sitting in an area of space that contains far fewer stars than those shown in the dome.
- FAKE: During Picard's operation, the surgeon employs several laser scalpels. In a close-up, the scalpel is clearly wobbling, yet the laser beam remains steady.
- FAKE: The cityscape paintings used for Starbase 515 are clearly the same ones that were used in "Angel One".
- PLOT: Rather than sending the ailing Picard on a six-hour-long shuttlecraft trip, Enterprise could have made the journey to the starbase in minutes.
TRIVIA
- During the shuttle trip to Starbase 515, Capt. Picard tells Wesley Crusher the story about how he got his artificial heart implant, after fighting three Nausicaans and getting stabbed in the back through the heart (and laughing afterwards). The events described here are depicted in the Season 6 episode "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) {Tapestry (#6.15)}.
- For this episode, it was briefly suggested that the Captain's Yacht be used to transport Capt. Picard to Starbase 515 for immediate heart surgery, but the producers decided nix the idea and decided to go with a traditional shuttlecraft instead. Ironically, the Captain's Yacht for the Enterprise-D is never used nor shown throughout the entire series run, however it was used from the Enterprise-E in Star Trek: Insurrection (1998).
