Summary: An arctic research team on Earth discovers debris from an alien vessel, nearly a century old, buried in a glacier along with the bodies of two cybernetically enhanced humanoids. Once those beings are thawed for investigation, they come to life and abduct the scientists and their transport vessel.

Captain Jonathan Archer: There was something familiar about all this; but I couldn't put my finger on it until I find this speech Zefram Cochrane made eighty-nine years ago. When I was a kid, I read everything I could about him. It took me a while, but I finally found it in the database. He was giving a commencement address at Princeton, when he started to talk about what really happened during First Contact. He mentioned a group of cybernetic creatures from the future, who tried to stop his first warp flight when he was living in Montana. He said they were defeated by a group of Humans, who were also from the future.
Sub-Commander T'Pol: As I recall, Cochrane was famous for his imaginative stories. He was also known to be frequently intoxicated.
Captain Jonathan Archer: No one took him seriously, and he recanted the whole thing a few years later; but you have to admit, there are similarities.
Sub-Commander T'Pol: [reading from the computer] He said their ultimate goal was "to enslave the Human race."
Captain Jonathan Archer: If he was right, they might be heading back to their homeworld, so they can try again.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: At the beginning, as the science team works outdoors, no breath condensation is visible as the team members talk to one another, despite their being at the frigid Arctic Circle during a blinding snowstorm.
FACT: One of the arctic researchers carbon-dates a Borg corpse, and determines that it was about 100 years old. There are two problems here. First, carbon-dating is only accurate to within 113 years for specimens younger than 10,000 years. Second, the test assumes that the organic material - when it was alive - grew in Earth's environment, which has a fairly constant level of carbon-14. Knowing that the corpses weren't Terran, they could not base their dating on anything.
