Star Trek: Enterprise - 01x19 Acquisition

Summary: When the entire crew is rendered unconscious, a quartet of large-eared, bickering thieves invades Enterprise. These plunderers, the Ferengi, are determined to make off with everything that's not bolted down. Meanwhile, Trip awakens after a long stint in the decon chamber and senses that something's not right on the ship. After spotting the thieves in action, Trip does his best to stay hidden and formulate a plan.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FAKE: The supposed "heavy" pipes that Archer is having a tough time carrying into the Ferengi ship that is looting Enterprise are clearly made out of foam since you can see on the side of one of them that some of the gray paint has shredded off.
CONT: The Ferengi Krem (Jeffrey Combs) tells Capt. Archer that he's memorized the Rules of Acquisition, "all 173 of them". "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) established that there are in fact 185 rules of acquisition. Of course it is quite possible that the other 12 rules of acquisition had not yet been formally established at this point in time (over 200 years before TNG & DS9).

TRIVIA

Ethan Phillips (I) plays the Ferengi Ulis in this episode. This would be the 3rd time that Phillips has donned the Ferengi ears and large forehead. Phillips' appeared as the Ferengi Dr. Farak on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) {Ménage à Troi (#3.24)}, and in _"Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) {False Profits (#3.5)}_, Phillips' character of Neelix has himself surgically altered to appear as a Ferengi in order to pose as the Grand Nagus' proxy.
This episode features only the 2nd time in a Star Trek series that we hear the Ferengis' native language. The first time we hear it is in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) {Little Green Men (#4.7)}.
Clint Howard appeared in "Enterprise" (2001) playing "Muk" in episode #1.19, "Acquisition" (3/27/2002). He also appeared in "Star Trek" (1966) playing "Balok" in episode #1.10, "The Corbomite Maneuver" (11/10/1966) and as a Human character in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) playing "Grady" in episode #3.12, "Past Tense: Part 2" (1/9/1995).
