Summary: Stardate 52889.3: The Federation has started to catch up with the new Dominion-Breen weaponry. Arriving from the Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards is the U.S.S. Sao Paulo, a Defiant-class warship with the most up-to-date specs on Breen weaponry. With the arrival of the Sao Paulo, the Federation is once again back in the game. On Cardassia Prime, Colonel Kira, Garak, and Legate Damar attempt to bring more of the Cardassian military into their force, only to be caught in a trap. The three transport to the surface in an out-of-the-way place, but they see that they are in trouble. Their Jem'Hadar vessel is destroyed high above them, they are left stranded deep in enemy territory.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

CONT: Weyoun says the Dominion has been around for 10,000 years. But in the Season 4 episode To the Death, he tells Captain Sisko its been around for 2,000 years.

TRIVIA

Quark's speech about Ferengi values and how "the line must be drawn here; this far, no further" was a deliberate parody of Patrick Stewart (I)'s in Star Trek: First Contact (1996).
This is the second episode that Quark becomes the new Grand Nagus only to have it taken away by Zek. The first time was The Nagus (DS9).
This is the only episode of the series in which Jeffrey Combs plays both of his major recurring characters, the Ferengi liquidator Brunt and the Vorta administrator Weyoun. On two occasions, he does so in consecutive scenes. It should be noted that the characters never met on screen.
The producers didn't want Quark to be the new Grand Nagus because they felt his place was at the bar. He is the center of the station, and its where he belongs. Armin Shimerman agreed. After seven years, he's too much a part of the station to leave it now.
