Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - 03x22 Explorers

Summary: Doctor Bashir learns that his medical class' valedictorian, on assignment aboard the U.S.S. Lexington, is scheduled to dock at Deep Space Nine in the next few weeks. Bashir, as the salutatorian of his class, reads up as much as he can on medical texts to make sure that he is on the same ground as his competition. Meanwhile, a trip to a Bajoran antiquities museum gives Commander Sisko the opportunity to reconstruct an eight hundred year old Bajoran space vessel.

MISTAKES/GOOFS

FACT: The ship Sisco built operated on solar sails, which require the pressure from sunlight to provide the propulsion. While this may be something that can propel a ship within the same solar system, the voyage from Bajor to Cardassia is interstellar; there would be no sunlight to move the ship for the majority of the distance.
FACT: Sisko uses a sextant to correct the sail ship's heading, but sextants must be referred to the horizon for alignment. There's no horizon in space.
