The scene where Nava meets with Quark in his office to ask permission to do business is a carefully crafted homage to the opening scene of The Godfather (1972); the opening shot, camera angles and movement, structure of the dialogue, and actor's movements are all patterned directly after that classic mobster film. Quark even pets a "cat" while speaking to Nava, just as Don Corleone did (although in Quark's case it's not a cat but some type of small creature).
